"After nearly two weeks straight of non-stop character assassination against Andrew Breitbart for correctly identifying Shirley Sherrod as a recovering bigot (who the NAACP rooted for when she admitted to discriminating against white people), our partisan left-wing "news media" are finally putting down their torches and pitchforks long enough to actually consider the truth.

CNN's Anderson Cooper, MSNBC's Chris Matthews and even Salon's obnoxiously brain-dead DNC propagandist Joan Walsh have all now come out and admitted that Breitbart clearly included Sherrod's explanation that she now cares more about class warfare than race in his original video (as well as in the text of his original post)."

The lengths some people will go to defend a dispicable act is just amazing!

Breitbart acted like a horses ass and many on the right will fight with all their might to defend him.

Breitbart is a disgrace and anyone trying to defend his actions are doing so based on personal bias.

The man is being sued and will likely lose for these actions.

What you saw was the reposting by Breitbart (and Fox) after he was outed as an outright liar and bigot.

Breitbart is still a liar and bigot. . . and Fox will use people like Breibart and their own known bigots to push their whacko agenda.

This article is a clear example of what could only be written by an apologist. The truth has been distorted to fit their narrow view and only the people who subscribe to that narrow view will find truth in it.

The author of this article would most certainly have worked for the the Nazi's.

The lengths some people will go to defend a dispicable act is just amazing!

That Anderson Cooper is such a Right Wing Hack!

The man is being sued and will likely lose for these actions.

Nothing will come of it except for exposing more of the NAACP institutionalized racism.

Breitbart is still a liar and bigot.

Shirley Charade Sherrod, Charles Sherrod & The NAACP are liars and bigots.

So are the intellectually dishonest liberals that defend their obvious HATE FOR WHITEY.

What a load of cr*p from one of the nastiest right-wingnut sources...

ANDERSON COOPER & CHRIS MATTHEWS ARE RIGHT-WING?

hahahahaha! they're getting desperate!

shirely's charade:

"I made that commitment to Black People only" 16:44

"he was trying to show me he was superior to me" 17:11(audience "alright" "hm mm", 17:25

"I was trying to decide how much help I was gonna give him" 17:30 (audience laughs)

"so I didn't give him the full force of what I could do" 17:45"

"his own kind would take care of him" 18: 20 (audience 'hm mm")

"it is about White & Black" 18:36

"I took him to one of his own" 18:44 (audience "hm hmm")

NAACP edited Tape at 20:59.

"The only difference is the folk with money want to stay in power"( to keep Blacks down) 23:38

"some of the racism that we thought was buried...didn't it surface" 24:12 Opposing health care is racist=Republicans are racist (audience laughs" "health care" all right" it surface")

"we endured eight years of the Bush's and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black President".24:23 (audience "thats right", cheers, applauds)

I want you to know they created it(audience "hm mm"), you know, not just for us. But we got the brunt of it 'cause they needed to elevate Whites just a little higher than us to make them think that they were so much better, and then we -- they would never work with us, you know, to try to change the situation that they were all in. 24:39

"It's not just about Black People it's about Poor People" 25:23

And we found some honest lawyers -- they were white. I wish I could say that about all lawyers, especially black lawyers, but they will nickel and dime you to death. 34:29 (audience laughs)

They'll eventually get 62 acres of the 515. And guess what? They have a White man already lined up to buy it. 34:41

WOW

*lol* reading the posts here, my god the left is so unbelievably brainwashed it is scary.

Breitbart's video as not even about Sherrod herself. It was not to get her fired, it was to point out racism in the NAACP. NAACP DOES have racism within the organization, but they do not denounce it at all, unlike attacking the Tea Party Movement, which that too has been admonished as it has been admitted it was a tactic not a truth to call the movement racist.

Sherrod went on her high horse with Cooper saying Breitbart was a racist yadda yadda bull@!$%# from her mouth and Cooper FAILED to press her asking for facts. HE was wrong, and let Sherrod smear Bretibart without any facts to her words.

Sherrod has NOT gotten over her black white issue at all. She accuses those who were opposed to the Obama-care as racists

You know, I haven't seen such a mean-spirited people as I've seen lately over this issue of health care. Some of the racism we thought was buried. Didn't it surface? Now, we endured eight years of the Bush's and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black President.

Transcript Shirley Sherrod

Address at the Georgia NAACP 20th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet

And here is something to add on, Rev. Charles Sherrod, yes Shirley Sherrod's husband, and his 2010 speech at University of Virginia

Rev. Charles Sherrod Delivers Keynote Address at Race and Law Conference

It is 26 minutes long

A little bit of transcript

Charles Sherrod Explains It All (Sort of)

Transcript (as noted, an edited version of a longer speech):

Ten years ago, we held in group ownership a non-profit organization called New Communities Incorporated. We farmed it for 17 years. We held onto it for that number of years.

Then we had five straight years of drought.

Then we had a three-year fight with USDA, just to get the right to get loans for drought, when all around us plantations, all kinds of plantations, that we proved were getting loans. And they were saying that since we're a corporation, we're not an individual, we're not a farm.

It took us three years to win that fight, then four more years of late payments from USDA that caused us to lose this land.

We appealed to hundreds of black and white groups to save the land. $250 a(n) acre to save 6,000 acres. Lookin' for 6,000 people to give $250 to save 6,000 acres of land, the largest piece of land owned by blacks in the country anywhere in a single tract. Muslims owned more land than we did but not in a single tract.

We lost that 6,000 acres in 1985. We sued the federal government because we were faithful, and had good lawyers. We won a large sum of money so that New Communities could live again and will live again. A large sum of money, large … (makes three four-fingered hand signals with his right hand) … sum of money — so that New Communities, a project to stabilize Southern farmers, to create a food delivery system from the South to our people in the North, and participate creatively in the international trade, were our three objectives.

So that possibility is yet alive. Young people, you will be making more money than we ever dreamed of. Please find a way, find a way that we can trust each other. So that our monies can work for our total liberation. We have ideas, inventions, athletic talents. But our labor and our monies and our contracts usually end up in white folks' hands and pockets. When will we trust our own?

Finally we must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections. We must not be afraid to vote black. We must not be afraid to turn a black out who votes against our interests.

People pull your damn heads in already. UNREAL

yes or no is there actually a video of Sherrod saying what she did about the white farmers and what she did to that farmer? LOL

I would bust my gut laughing if you deny a video exists. I dare you, go on.

Sad that your so blind you fell for it, worse that you think it's the truth. I saw when he gave that excuse to the media you could tell from his movements and speech he was making it up on the spot.

Just like O'Keefe you on the far right don't give a damn about truth you will jump behind whatever supports you and pretend it is the real truth.

Ok so Breitbart without even knowing Sherrod set out to actually have her fired? Really he did? LOL Prove it.

Feel for what? I watched a video in that video Sherrod showed racism, WOW Breitbart proved racism exists in the NAACP, hell we all knew it did anyway, to which I further proved from Sherrod's OWN SPEECH she is still not over her "black white issue" as she claims. And you call me sad and blind. LOL Priceless.

Breitbart did the exact same thing the NAACP did to the Tea Party Members, and in fact what the left wing media has done to the Tea Party members. Oh but silly me I guess because the right plays the same game, automatically they are wrong.

*laughing more*

  • Acts that run contrary to the spirit and purpose of Newsvine, including attempts to circumvent the Code of Honor & User Agreement, are not allowed. More +
    1. A user's participation at Newsvine is judged as a whole. Recurring counterproductive behavior or negative contributions - even if not specifically addressed in the Code of Honor or the User Agreement - may still warrant removal of that person from the Newsvine Community.

yes or no is there actually a video of Sherrod saying what she did about the white farmers and what she did to that farmer?

Yes there is A video where Sherrod tell us how she realized during her 1st case with a white farmer that this wasn't about black or white but rich v poor. That such a lesson helped her do everything she could to help the white farmer keep his farm and stay out of bankruptcy. We also have interview video with said farmers who completely refutes the idea that she didn't do everything she could.

Nothing in said video shows her being racist. But hey you go right on being blinded by that bias to the point of refuseing to see reality.

I watched the Chris Matthews piece on the day it aired (so it was not edited) and at no time did Matthews or Joan Walsh claim that Breitbart was right. In fact, Matthews seems to hint that Breitbarts intro to his edited posted video of Sherrod made it look as if the incident happened while Sherrod was working for the Obama adminsitration and so was patently false, would be what could do him in in a libel case.

The Breitbart defenders are now guilty of what Breitbart was guilty of: taking pieces of video and trying to make it look like something it isn't.

Breitbart is my hero I rank him right ahead of Joseph Goebbels in propaganda for profit.

Read his 1932 writings "Fascism For Fun and Profit" this was a man who could take the weak and ignorant and make them work for him Breitbart must be related or his son, the two are so similar.

I'll be surprised if you get the interest that the previous seeds supporting Sherrod did. Interestingly it's a bit of a paradox. The very thing the Liberals complained of was not considering the whole truth. Hmmm.

Kshark, why should I google what has been presented by Garrison as "truth." I mean, If Garrison says it's true, Breitbart says it's true, biggovernment.com says it's true, well, that's three sources right there. I shouldn't need any more proof than that, should I?

I didn't read apologies in the Breitbart articles but I'll take his word for it. He is a man of his word.

Hey, Garrison, I didn't say you were a horses ass. I did go to the links which were Breitbart's site saying that he was right. No where did CNN or MSNBC or their employees say they were sorry, apologize, Breitbart was right, excuse my error... Nothing that was an apology. Even the third link said nothing about an apology. It's a @!$%#ing lie made by a @!$%#ing liar to back up his own @!$%#ing lies. I wouldn't believe that horses ass if he said his name was Breitbart.

You don't know me. You don't know what the @!$%# I did as far as watching the videos or butchering a goat. I have a good, rounded world view. I even understand people who follow this guy, join the TEA Party, want Mexicans out of the country, and keep an arsonal of weapons in case they have to overthrow the government. I do understand even when I don't agree. This is a free country. You can believe what you want but I CAN BELIEVE WHAT I WANT, TOO! Tell yourself to open your own @!$%#ing eyes and learn what freedom is about. I'll tell you now what freedom is not. It's not you telling me what the @!$%# to do.

Now did you watch the 43 minute video? No you didn't. http://video.gamesfather.com/youtube/play/video_E9NcCa_KjXk.html

Your video went from 16:44 to 24:39, about 8 minutes. The MYSTERIOUS part you say the NAACP edited out is on the 43 minute video that you were asked again and again on beau7890's article. That missing part is what Breitbart cut out, not NAACP. It is the continuation of the story where she says: working with the White farmer made me see that it's really about those who have verses those who don't. They could be Black, they could be White, could be Hispanic. It made me realize then that I needed to work to help the poor people, those who don't have access the funds the way others do... around 21.20. I don't take shorthand so that was the best I could get to her exact words. The whole 43 minutes of her speech is there including your false CUT & EDIT at 20:59.

This is not news. Breitbart was right?

Thinking people: Is this a revelation?

Thinking people: Do you ask the dog why it barks?

Fox news has a purpose, the problem is not Breitbart, the problem is an ignorant public.

It never ceases to amaze me how we tell people the truth and they miss it because they are often seeking the spectacular, at the expense of the mundane.

They are called right wing ideologs. HMMM!!

Fortunately, "most Americans" find the sort of cheap partisan hackery so common on the Vine to be distasteful.

So yes, if rejecting politics-of-personal-destruction nonsense equates to ignorance, most Americans are ignorant as hell. We should all strive to be so ignorant.

Not according to Chris and Joan (July 29). If you ACTUALLY want to hear what they had to say for themselves go to the link below. WARNING: If you're one of those people who don't like FACTS that don't support your "opinion" don't watch.

Could you point out Anderson Cooper's remarks for me? The link you provided (and subsequent links from that link) doesn't quote Cooper saying Breitbart was right. As for Matthews, he's always struck me as a bit of a blowhard. I'm not really concerned with how he spins for maximum entertainment value on the controversy of the day.

As I said below, Breitbart did include a snippet of her "epiphany," but then cut the video when she mentioned the white lawyer. This removes a significant amount of context from her story, and her realization is reduced to reluctant, half-hearted help. The true, full story is much different, and no amount of apologist nonsense will change that.

I did. The Cooper link involves him saying he should've questioned her further and apologizes for not fulfilling his journalistic responsibility. Good on him, but that's a tad different from saying that Breitbart's framing of the issue was correct. I already commented on Chris Matthews being a controversy-chasing blowhard, so that point is moot. So, let me repeat and clarify: could you point out Anderson Cooper's remarks, specifically as they relate to conceding that Breitbart was correct?

It seems some people are uneasy with other people having a voice, so they obstruct and choose not to play the game, hence we have people advocating the downfall of that voice, which is government.

The Democrats use the race card for everything. Everyone in America has an equal playing field. If anything "minorities" now have an advantage over the majority in many areas. They want equality yet still want special rules and laws. You can't have a double standard like that. Affirmative Action needs to be gone.

Look at your republican friends they b!+ch, moan, and obstruct the opposition, saying wait till we get in office we'll be more responsible. No ideas are brought to the table, just rants. Though I don't consider "seeding" to be journalism, I would expect that those that seed, actually do some research.

First, thanks The Realist Party for sending in a link to the Matthew's program. Garrison 2010, including both the seed (to the Examiner) and some follow-up links for your assertions would have at least given some credibility to the seed.

Spending 15 minutes of my time watching the Matthew's program ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/#38476078) to validate your assertion - Breitbart was right, the Liberal Media was Wrong - you are wrong, Sir.

The real theme is that though the tape did show Ms. Sherrod invoking some redemption - that racism involves all of us for many reasons - the video that Breibart put a message indicating Ms. Sherrod discriminated against white people, and the overtones that the video makes depicting her as a racist are questionable.

The discussion was really about motives and what due-diligence should these new brand of journalists should be required to make.

In short - got to go so this response is very poor - get your facts and assertions correct!

The video of the naacp crowd cheering and laughing at a black lawyer saying she didn't do all she could do to help a white client was disgusting and shocking. But as usual the black democratic machine defends the black racist and calls anyone who rightly criticizes her as being racist themselves. The race-baiting tactics of the left are well-entrenched.

This black bigot (and her audience of naacp bigots) reminds me of so many other black racists who are accepted as spokespersons for the black community. jesse jackson telling how he would spit in white people's food when he worked in restaurants -- sharpton who built his career out of race baiting (from brawley to the duke "rape" case) -- and of course dear leader obama who attacked his own grandmother as a racist because she was "frightened" by an aggressive black panhandler.

america deserves its coming balkanization under these dishonest and cynical forces of identity politics.

Socrates1, maybe her father being beaten to death by three white dudes who were never charged had something to do with her previous views of white people. Helping these white farmers (which she did BTW) helped her see that poor people of all skin colors were being hurt by the rich. I don't care how you spin it, she was telling a story of personal redemption and Breitbart depicted her as a racist, end of story.

Socrates1, somehow you just overlook that she was raised in the racist south, and her father was lynched. Black farmers were routinely being screwed out of their farms by rich white guys backed by the agriculture department (which the recent law suit settled). And yet you don't think she should harbor any resentment towards white people. I suppose if you were in the same situation, you could just put all that you have endured aside and treat everyone equally. From her experince, I'm sure she felt that the white farmer would be more comfortable working with someone of "his own kind." I'm surprised that she could actually put her past experiences behind her and help these people, which in the end, is what she did.

If white people who have had family members murdered, raped or assaulted, or been so violated themselves, by blacks since 1980 were to express the same hatred and mistrust toward blacks, -- the left would attack them as racists and trying to stereotype all blacks by the actions of "a few." (I put few in quotes because it is a lie regarding the black tribal culture in america today).

It's just another form of racism to excuse such hatred and mistrust by blacks. But leftists need to keep alive old racial hostilities to keep blacks mentally enslaved by the democratic party.

Socrates1, sorry but being suspicious of white people based on life experiences is not racism, no matter how many times you try to get me to say it. Here is a definition of racism:

The Macquarie Dictionary defines racism as: "the belief that human races have distinctive characteristics which determine their respective cultures, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule or dominate others."

Now I didn't hear one time in her speech where she said she was superior or wanted to rule or dominate white people. Sorry but just because her life experience told her to be wary of white people does not make her a racist.

Simplistic, stop hitting yourself, there are a lot of blacks who are involved in the civil rights movement who view other black people who they perceive as taking the white mans side in issues as "Uncle Toms." Sorry, but this is not racism, this is a reaction to what they see as betrayal. BTW, your little story about your black conservative friends doesn't make you any more knowledgeable about how blacks view white people.

DScottAnthony, a criminal act by a select group of criminals is not the same as people being killed because they were black. Even when they knew who committed the crime the criminal justice system in the south during this time would never arrest and prosecute a white person for killing a black person. Please pick up a history book and see how blacks were treated in this country from 1865-1965, maybe you could see why a black person would see the USA as one of the most racist countries in the world.

The southern black man had to endure violent racism in an attempt to garner equal treatment from the white establishment of this country. When some black men think another black man is taking the side of white men in issues like affirmative action and segregation they take it very personally. Sorry, but you can't call everything a black person says that doesn't agree with your point of view, racism.

The truth is that the video and Breitbart post were smear-jobs. He makes casual, glossed-over mention of her deciding to help, but stops the story at where she refers him to a white lawyer (with a "one of his own kind" remark). The story goes on further from there, where she became personally involved in his case, but you wouldn't know that from Breitbart's comments. To hear him tell the story, she did something horrible and racist, then conceded a minor amount of humanity but still refused to do anything herself.

This is amid paragraphs upon paragraphs of commentary about how this video proves the NAACP is racist, the video is called "NAACP Bigotry in Their Ranks," and of course the Tea Party is nothing but a bunch of perfect little angels. Give me a break. Breitbart was wrong, he got called on it and burned. Lick your wounds and move on instead of defending the jackass.

I think someone could put up a reasonable argument that the NAACP has a certain amount of bigotry in their title, Simplistic, but that's missing the point. Even if the organization has bigoted elements, this video was not an example of it. Giving the video that title, and framing the discussion the way Breitbart did, was a direct shot to imply that Sherrod was a racist. It was inaccurate, plain and simple.

Now the Automatic GOP Backpeddling Machine is attempting to prove that Breitbart included her epiphany in the video he selectively edited, so hey, he wasn't calling her racist at all! The fact that he included only a small snippet and cut it off when she mentioned a white lawyer, and how the entire thrust of his blog post is how it proves she's a racist NAACP member, can't just be ignored because you guys want to focus on one very tiny piece of video he chose to include.

Besides which, this is all distraction and diversion. He was trying to nail the NAACP to distract from Tea Party racism. It's a "two wrongs make a right" fallacy. Proving racism exists elsewhere doesn't excuse the racism within your own party. He just wanted to make media spectacle to distract from it, and by being so blatantly wrong and disgraced he did a better job of it than he probably even intended.
